At the heart of Niagara Support Services (NSS) lies a story of unwavering dedication and transformative change. Our journey began in 1953, fueled by a group of visionary parents united by a singular purpose: “NO CHILD FORGOTTEN.”
Our dedicated and qualified staff are here to assist you with every aspect of daily life, ensuring a focus on enhancing your quality of life. From medical and financial support to expanding your social circle and engaging with the community, NSS is committed to helping you thrive.
On July 9, 1956, our dream took flight as we were officially incorporated by Letters Patent. This was not just the birth of an agency, but the beginning of a profound commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.
By 1960, our mission expanded to include adults through sheltered workshops, providing valuable opportunities and support. As the world evolved, so did we. In 2015, we embraced Ontario’s vision for inclusion, transitioning from segregated workshops to fostering community integration through employment, volunteering, and vibrant community activities.
In 1978, we celebrated a heartfelt milestone with the opening of our first group home. This was more than a building—it was a sanctuary where individuals could thrive in a nurturing and supportive environment.
The year 1997 marked a turning point as we forged a powerful alliance with Niagara Training & Employment Agency (NTEC). This partnership strengthened our ability to provide comprehensive support, a bond that remains robust and influential to this day.
On March 9, 1998, we embraced a new name, Niagara Support Services — reflecting our expanded vision and deepened commitment to the community we serve.
